Passionate About Your Pets

Chiropet provides treatment options that are not readily available in a conventional Veterinary practice or from a human Chiropractor or Acupuncturist. The aim is to provide a holistic health care program tailored to meet an individuals specific requirements utilising primarily Chiropractic and Acupuncture techniques as well as dietary, behavioural, herbal and natural therapies. Dr Condon has been a practicing Veterinarian since 1981 and has a wealth of experience.  This extensive experience as well as the knowledge gained through studying and training in Chiropractic and Acupuncture ensures an accurate diagnosis and treatment plan for many complex health problems.

How do you know your pet needs to see Chiropet?

As with ourselves health care starts at birth and continues all the way through life. Most people become aware of the need for their pet to see a chiropractor because of symptoms such as pain, lameness, stiffness or poor performance in a racing, show or agility dog. Many people are unaware of the role of chiropractic care especially in the older animal, believing that the symptoms are a normal part of old age. Chiropet care does not replace an animal’s conventional veterinary care but compliments it to ensure the very best health for the whole of the animal’s life. With an extensive background in veterinary care if the problem requires veterinary management then that can be identified early and appropriate help sought. Dr Condon is also available for telephone or on-line consultations if a “second opinion” is helpful or if looking at a problem from a different approach may provide a solution.

Our Services

Chiropractic

A common treatment performed is the Chiropractic “manual adjustment”. This treatment is performed with a hand contact delivering a specific impulse to a specific area of the patient’s spine or joints in a specific direction.

Acupuncture

Acupuncture is used to manage many painful or more chronic and complex health conditions that are often difficult to manage with conventional Veterinary care. As with chiropractic, acupuncture assists the body to activate the bodies healing response.

Activator

In some cases the treatment can be performed using an instrument called an Activator. “Activator” treatment uses very low force to achieve good outcomes and can be used in very young or very old patients that may not tolerate manual treatments.

How does Chiropractic Care Work?

Chiropractic involves examining muscle and joint function with an emphasis on the spine to determine areas of abnormal motion. These areas of abnormal motion are often associated with dysfunction of the nervous system which can lead to symptoms including pain, altered sensations, weakness or paralysis. Untreated motion disturbances lead to altered nerve function which will progress to deterioration in cellular health and ultimately structural or organ degeneration. The causes of motion abnormality or “subluxation” can include injury or trauma, response to toxins and other chemicals and the stress of daily activities and living. There may not be any obvious symptoms in the early stages to indicate that the nervous system function is being compromised. Physical symptoms indicate deterioration of nervous system function and are warnings that the body is being affected by potentially damaging influences. The aim of treatment is to restore normal motion to the identified areas or joints which leads to improved nervous system function and a resolution or reduction of the symptoms. Animal Chiropractic treatments have been developed specifically for the different needs of animals and their specific anatomy.

5 star review  So pleased that we took our boy Buddy to see Matthew. I had used Matthew before for my old German Shepherd who had hip dysplasia and she used to get acupuncture and did really well so thought I’d take Buddy my 6yo Golden Retriever to see him. Buddy also has bad hips and a bad elbow but is generally well and not in a lot of pain. Matthew examined him, heard about his current medication and suggested we take him off those meds as they aren’t great for long term use and we should hold off until he needs it. He also suggested we do hydro (water treadmill) to build up his muscle mass; but was honest enough to advise that he didn’t need chiro/acupuncture yet. That was a few months ago and we have followed his advice and Buddy has never been healthier or happier. He is leaner (not that he was overweight), drug free, doing hydro and getting stronger every week. So we couldn’t be happier either! Highly recommend Matthew, he is awesome!

5 star review  Matthew looked after my dog "Jackie" when she had back issues and was on Doggie Tranquilizers. She was catatonic and Matthew's treatment of Chiropractic care and Acupuncture allowed us to take her off of the Tranquilizers and she was happy again.
